Kpop Star 3: Battle Round

After casting audition, it was battle audition where all three agencies train and groom their representatives for battle. They did a stimulation of how the battle round going to be like at YG headquarters and each agencies asked their ace to perform. The result was Bernard Park (JYP) first, Shorties (YG) second and Hung Jung Hee (Antenna Music) third. They reminded all the contestants that this round is a big deal. First place moves on to TOP 10 while second place has to perform again and third place will be automatically be eliminated.

So, total 10 contestants have been chosen. I do pity Lee Chae Young seeing how she had developed over those 2 years but she's still young and have a lot of opportunity ahead of her. The Chae sisters also have a long way ahead of them. You guys are not losers.. It's just there are other people who need this stage more than you do. So please don't get discourage! As for Peter Han oppa, you are a great singer. I hope I'll see you in the future as a singer. Just go straight to entertainment companies and audition there. Hahaha..

This message goes to all the eliminated contestants as well. You guys did great and had tried you best. *Applause*

This is just my honest opinion.. I hope no one takes it too personally.. I am not really a fan of Jung Hanna or Bae Min Ah.. But I still think they did great.. Somehow I was hoping to see Peter Han on TOP10 rather than these two. I agree with the other TOP10 line-ups.. I'm looking forward for live broadcast!

Break The Habit: Day 6

It was a crazy week for me..
I was so pumped up with doing my assignment till i didn't even have time to sneakily watch Korean drama.
Well.. That may not be the whole truth =P
On Thursday and Friday I have some spare time in between
I did watch Kpop Star on Friday while reading journals
I just watch the performances but not the critics part
Then, I did check out Dramabeans to see what happen on 'My Love from Another Star'
So on Friday night, I did watch the first part of MLAS..
Then, just now while doing some chores, I did watch MLAS on TV
But somehow, I think I did great
It's not like I go crazy without K-drama
And.. I didn't check out for AllKpop at all!
I think that's a great achievement

p/s: I think I need to change my diet habit too. Probably that will be my next mission. Something like a losing weight diary.

Kpop Star 3: Confused by Something

Another performance from Kim Ah Hyun and Jung Sae Woon. This is during the casting audition. They wrote this song after being overwhelmed by emotions from the previous round. It's about being unsure whether someone really likes you or not.

Break the Habit

I have a few habit that I would like to break free this year. I am fed up of myself for not having any self-discipline. I have been fighting with myself.. It's true that we have liberty but lack of freedom. Because we are so driven by impulse sometimes. We let our body decide but not our mind.

I am going to start a journal about how I will stop watching Korean dramas. It's not a sin to watch it but I have to put my priority first, regardless. So, this next 30 days, I vow to myself that I will not watch Korean dramas and I'll prove that I can still survive without it! Kpop Star and Runningman only airs once a week so I think that's acceptable as long as I had done all my work first. And I can only watch it on weekends.

Currently I am following 'He Who Came From the Star'. So I have to stop following that one. Also, I am following 'Emergency Couple' but I am not so fond of the story. I was planning to start watching Reply 1994 and I Need Romance 3' but I'll have to throw my intention now. For now, I will just focus on getting rid of my addiction.

Tomorrow will be my Day 1. So I will write down as I progress.

Pegawai Sains Kimia

Another interview but different position. Last time I wrote about Pegawai Sains Kimia Hayat but this time I was called for Pegawai Kimia.

Seriously, I had trouble gathering information for this position. A lot that I found is for Kimia Hayat. I thought writing about it could guide some of you, who are as clueless as I was, to prepare themselves for the interview session.

This is merely my advice to you guys. You don't have to follow everything and that's it. You can always improvise what I did and do much better than me. 

The key points are:

1) Learn a lot about Jabatan Kimia Malaysia. 

2) Brush up your knowledge about some of the analytical instruments that you did learn. e.g. NMR, HPLC, GCMS etc

3) Always update yourself on what's going on the news. Any current or ongoing issues in Malaysia and around the world.

4) I know I told you before but you need to be prepare if they ask about 'dasar-dasar kerajaan'. 

I think I had give out a lot of pointers for you guys. The rest depends on how well you speak. You have to show your maturity of thinking. I think that's how they will judge you. They might question your answer but be confident and watch your tone (provocation element). 

For first timer, in the interview room there will one representative from Jabatan Kimia and another from SPA. SPA would ask basic questions such as 'tell me about yourself', 'why you are interest to work with government' etc. Then, Jabatan Kimia would take over and ask about more technical stuff such as how to use this equipments, etc.

Kpop Star 3: 1020 - Something

For Round 4, the group Something has to compete against All Chae. Well, they both come from a different genre. I just think the judges shouldn't be so bias towards All Chae as I don't see they are good in singing. But then again, All Chae win against Something.

During the elimination period, Jung Sae Woon was being so honest. He admitted that Ah Hyun noona contributed more for the song. It was her idea in terms of the concept and the style of the song. Ah Hyun felt sorry and tried to cover up that they equally worked on the song. (Ah~ My sweet 'Something'~)

For now, I know Jung Sae Woon was eliminated. The judges had no choice since that's the rule. At least one person has to go from the eliminated group. Let's just hope he'll come back after competing against all the other eliminated contestants.

Kpop Star Season 3 : Bernard Park

[Latest update: Bernard Park won Kpop Star 3!!! He chooses JYP as the company he would like to be signed to. Congratulations!!!  I♥U]

Where is this guy during the audition round? There's only a short clip showing him singing the song 'Gravity', originally by John Mayer.

I started to have some interest in him since JYP showed a keen interest in his voice. It was pure curiosity, at first. But when he sang 'End of The Road', originally by Boyz II Men, my heart melted. He really delivered the emotions of the song. It sounded as if he is begging someone to come back to him. As JYP said, "He has a soulful voice".

Well, I found out a bit about him. He is 21 years old and his birthday is on 29th January (according to his Youtube fancafe). He was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He started having an interest in singing since he usually sings in church. He likes to sing a lot of R&B and Soul. He participated in Kollaboration Atlanta 2012. I assumed that he's a sophomore in college (since he was a freshman in 2012). During the interview session for Kollaboration Atlanta 2012, he did sing a bit of '6,8,12' originally sang by Brian McKnight. So, I would have guessed that he was the one who choose the song for one of EQ performance.

During the Team audition, Bernard was teamed up with Sam Kim and Kim Ki Ryun and they named the group 'E.Q'.

For team audition round, EQ has to compete against The Shorties & Peter Han which is like a nightmare for both of the teams. Both of the team did really great but the judges had to choose the winner. Unfortunately, EQ lose and Kim Ki Ryun was eliminated. So, only Bernard and Sam were left.

Audition round: Bernard and Sam (BnS) performed 'It Hurts' by 2NE1. They thought it's better to perform a more recent song that can appeal the judges and viewers. However, they had a hard time during practice since Sam usually plays by ears and Ki Ryun would be the one to help him identify the chords. Nevertheless, they did well on D-day! Sam Kim was casted by Antenna Music while Bernard Park was casted by JYP.

They had a simulation of the battle round and Bernard was chosen to represent JYP team. He performed 'Lately' originally by Stevie Wonder.

Then, during battle audition, he performed 'I love you' by i-don't-know-who.. I'm sorry to say that I didn't enjoy it much but he managed to win first place and proceed to be in the TOP 10 spot! Congrats! I bet he'll be in TOP 3 as well but it's hard to say he'll be No. 1 because I'm rooting for Kwon Jin Ah, Something and The Shorties too.

For TOP10 performance, Bernard performed 'What I Want to Say' by i-don't-know-who.. I guess because I don't know the song much so I can't really enjoy it the first time I listen to it. During the interview session, he did say that his goal is to reach TOP10 and if he didn't, he might throw away his dream to be a singer. He was hesitant to come to Korea as he was supposed to help his parent and financially, he needs money to pay for his tuition fee. You can check out the video below. JYP said Bernard was able to make 8 chords song into 4 chords but he questioned whether he'll be able to do the opposite. In short, JYP wants Bernard to come out from his comfort zone and challenge himself more for him to grow.

What I Want To Say - Bernard Park

Bernard revealed that it was hard for him to be away from his family and friends. Well, it seems all the Korean-American contestants have the same problem and maybe that would make them bond even more. He was so disappointed in himself after the previous performance since he almost got eliminated. But not to worry.. Bernard Park is back! (I was thinking that before Yoo Hee Yeol said it) The Bernard I know from the beginning is back! I think it was a great song choice this time. He said this song relates to his situation now. So, enjoy~ TOP6 already woot woot!
