[Kpop Star season 5 Ep 10]

The judges were given 6 casting cards.

They were asked to write down their preferred contestants.

All there of them have the same top three candidates.

For instance, not being able to see her late grandfather anymore.

• She was eliminated because of her age. The judges

acknowledged her potential but she can only get better as she grows older.

• They sang 'I Will' by Seven Days.

• The song is really difficult since it has a lot of high notes.

• However, JYP said it was a meaningless high notes because it was not

from an explosion of emotions.

• It was the same Mazinger group with the addition of Yuyu Liu.

• They sang 'Love On Top' by Beyonce.

• She sang 'More Than Blue' by Kim Bum Soo

• She has some vocal cord problem so she can't sing that well.

• Her performance this time was not as the judges expected.

• He performed his own song, 'I Was Well Off'.

• The song is about being well off but the girl still rejected him.

• All the judges were amazed.

• JYP wanted to recruit him but YG and Antenna stopped him.

In the end, Jin Woo got to pick the agency.

She performed her own song during audition, titled 'HongYeon'.

The song wrote about the story of 'King and The Clown'

but from the King's perspective. YHY gave her a Wild Card.

YG - I know I didn't praise you much during audition because I believe you haven't showed everything. Today your singing is three times
more powerful than audition.
JYP - I felt tingly listening to you. You made your own interpretation of
the song which is difficult to do for a ballad
YHY - It's amazing to see how you improve from the first round

YHY - The chorus part was appealing. But one thing you lack is power.. the explosive sound.
JYP - She didn't change her tongue position to make that 'R&B' sound. That's impressive!

JYP - Your vocalization is better. I am impressed

Jung Jin Woo (19)

◆ He was grateful for all the praises he received so he
thought that the past 2 years did not go to waste
◆ However, at the same time, he felt a tremendous amount of pressure
◆ He said he is not perfect so the judges could be disappointed later

YG - It reminded me of an old song
JYP - The lyrics and motif are not interesting. The chord progression is not stylish.
But your voice is still amazing
YHY - You have excellent ability for that 8 measures during the hook part

◆ She was trained by Antenna Music but YHY said the song was too difficult to understand
◆ She agonized whether to change the lyrics or not but in the end, decided to stick to the original version

JYP - I think it has an amazing lyric. The progression still have some room for improvement
YG - I hope whatever hardship you're going through, you managed to overcome it
YHY - I didn't realize the deep meaning of the song. I think you have your own world.

◆ During pre-screening training, she said YHY was so kind and detailed.
◆ She used to sing for textbook and commercial songs but during audition
JYP said even when sing, it sounded too much like commercial song.
◆ She thought by singing to textbook and commercial songs, it will bring her
closer to her dream as a singer but was disappointed when it works against her.
◆ For this round, JYP said she choose a very difficult song

YG - I think she got the most beneficial help from Antenna's training.
I was prejudiced at first that you will still sing the same way as you did in audition
but you actually have an amazing power to carry a song.
JYP - You're way too clear-headed when you sing. It still sounded
as if you're trying to pleased someone.

Joyce Lee / Lee Ha Rin (17)

(Can't Take My Eyes of You - Frankie Valli)

◆ She auditioned for season and received a pass from BoA but her
parents didn't allow her to go because she was only 12 at that time.
◆ She showed to her parents how passionate she is with singing and
got permission from them this time.

YHY - Last time I criticized your singing sounded too old-fashioned. This time your
voice sounded more natural and strong.
YG - Your volumes varies too much. If you advances, why don't you
choose a Korean song.
JYP - The important thing for me when people sing Soul or R&B is
spontaneity and ad-lib. I'm glad you have both qualities.

Kim Ji Yoo (19)

YHY - This is the first time I heard of the song. I think the song
sounded good because you delivered it well.

part-time job as a cook.
◆ He found it hard to choose a song but goes with a song he
used to listen to time to time.
◆ During training, he was criticized by JYP for not pouring out his emotions

YG - Your natural voice is good and I'm surprised to know that you have
powerful high notes too. But as a producer, your singing is mediocre compared
to the first time.
YHY - It was charming but although your singing it differently
than the original singer, it was not better.
JYP - Since you were praised a lot, you would become very pressured.
It's normal but you have to overcome the pressure and concentrate on the lyrics.
Regardless, you have an amazing voice.

Lim Ha Eun (15)

◆ She was known as a dance prodigy from New York after appearing
on Star King at the age of 10.
◆ Currently she lives in Seoul
◆ She hit a slump during 5th grade since she felt
she's dancing only to meet people's expectations.
◆ She naturally started singing after that to express her feelings
◆ The song choice was suggested by JYP.

YG - It was a fast song so it's an advantage for you since you were a dancer.
It's a perfect song choice since you get to show off you powerful skills within you.
YHY - This song allows you to show off your vocalization skills,
as well as your rhythm and talent.
JYP - You did fix you weird facial expression and
letting go too much air when you sing.

◆ When she introduced herself, she did say she's the 'smarty' one. She got perfect scores for all the subjects before. She's definitely smart!

YG - "If you were my daughter, I would train you right away"
JYP - "It's impressive that you manage to change from head voice to chest voice perfectly"

◆ She has never experienced it so she just imagine if one of her friends would leave her

JYP - "One thing I would like to point out is that there's no novelty"
YG - "This song needs someone with unique or charming voice to keep them listening till the end and you lack that"

# She has a really nice voice! Looking forward for her next performance.
